Abstract
El proyecto de investigación se realizó en el Campus “La María” de la Universidad Técnica Estatal de Quevedo, lo cual se emplearon dos variedades de arroz (Oryza sativa L.), bajo la aplicación de un regulador de crecimiento (Crapal), con paclobutrazol al 25% como i.a., siendo este insumo capaz de inhibir las giberalínas, hormonas responsables del crecimiento. Los objetivos de la investigación fueron: evaluar los efectos del paclobutrazol en el comportamiento agronómico, conocer el efecto sobre la altura de la planta al aplicar un inhibidor de ácido giberélico, estudiar el efecto que tiene un inhibidor de ácido giberélico (paclobutrazol), sobre el número de espigas, comparar los pesos fresco y seco de la planta total entre el tratamiento control y el tratamiento paclobutrazol. Se emplearon 4 tratamientos, dividiéndose en 2 tratamientos para el factor A (variedades: Lira y Poderosa) y 2 para el factor B (aplicación: con y sin regulador), los cuales fueron dispuesto en un DCA con arreglo factorial, cada tratamiento utilizo 5 repeticiones. Los resultados de las variables evaluadas mostraron diferencias altamente significativas (p< 0,05) para la altura de planta siendo la variable más importante en la investigación; obteniendo para la Lira 184,40 cm y 164,00 cm para los tratamientos sin y con paclobutrazol respectivamente, mientras que la Poderosa con alturas de 118,40 cm y 97,00 cm entre el tratamiento testigo y el control respectivamente a los 75dds. Con respecto a número de macollos, número de espigas, peso fresco, peso seco de planta y longitud de raíz no se encontraron diferencias estadísticas entres los tratamientos del factor B dentro de cada variedad del factor A. Se concluye que el uso del paclobutrazol tiene influencia en el crecimiento de las plantas logrando así reducir su tamaño y evitar el acame sin afectar directamente su rendimiento, dado que cabe recalcar que no se observaron diferencias estadísticas en el número de espiga.

The research project was carried out at the “La María” Campus of the Quevedo State Technical University, which used two varieties of rice (Oryza sativa L.), under the application of a growth regulator (Crapal), with paclobutrazol at 25% as ai, this input being capable of inhibiting giberalins, hormones responsible for growth. The objectives of the research were: to evaluate the effects of paclobutrazol on agronomic behavior, to know the effect on plant height when applying a gibberellic acid inhibitor, to study the effect of a gibberellic acid inhibitor (paclobutrazol) on the number of spikes, compare the fresh and dry weights of the total plant between the control treatment and the paclobutrazol treatment. 4 treatments were used, dividing into 2 treatments for factor A (varieties: Lira and Poderosa) and 2 for factor B (application: with and without regulator), which were arranged in a DCA with factorial arrangement, each treatment used 5 repetitions. The results of the variables evaluated showed highly significant differences (p <0.05) for plant height, being the most important variable in the investigation; obtaining for the Lira 184.40 cm and 164.00 cm for the treatments without and with paclobutrazol respectively, while the Poderosa with heights of 118.40 cm and 97.00 cm between the control treatment and the control respectively at 75dds. Regarding the number of tillers, number of spikes, fresh weight, plant dry weight and root length, no statistical differences were found between the treatments of factor B within each variety of factor A. It is concluded that the use of paclobutrazol has an influence in the growth of plants, thus reducing their size and avoiding lodging without directly affecting their performance, since it should be noted that no statistical differences were observed in the number of spikes.
