Abstract
Los adultos mayores debido al proceso degenerativo de la vida tienden con los años a perder la memoria, lo que puede ocasionar accidentes dentro de sus hogares por olvidar realizar ciertas acciones, sumado a que generalmente no hay un control por parte de sus cuidadores o familiares. Actualmente es posible apoyar la prevención de accidentes dentro de los hogares de los adultos mayores por medio de la tecnología, lo cual permite alertar de manera oportuna y que estos eventos no se vuelvan catastróficos. Pese a los intentos de apoyar dichas limitaciones, en la actualidad no existen sistemas que estén dedicados específicamente a hogares de adultos mayores.
En este trabajo se desarrolló un prototipo basado en WSN e IoT para la alerta temprana de determinados eventos catastróficos, orientado a los hogares de adultos mayores. En consecuencia, se desarrolló una investigación compuesta de cinco etapas. En la primera, se ejecutó un análisis que permitió seleccionar los componentes tanto de software como de hardware, basándose en la revisión de especificaciones técnicas y/o bibliografía existente. La segunda parte, fue el diseño del prototipo basado en IoT y WSN para la detección de los eventos. En tercer lugar, se desarrolló la aplicación que permite la visualización de los datos generados a través de red de sensores inalámbricos. La cuarta consistió en la incorporación de un mecanismo para la emisión de alertas y finalmente, en la quinta etapa, se evaluó el prototipo final para conocer el comportamiento del mismo y la aceptación por parte de los usuarios.
Los resultados obtenidos de la investigación fueron positivos, especialmente en el estudio con usuarios. Este estudio mostró la aceptación del sistema por parte de los adultos mayores y futuros usuarios candidatos. En su totalidad se mostraron interesados en el prototipo propuesto e infirieron que sería de gran ayuda en el diario vivir. Se puede entonces concluir que, por medio de IoT y WSN, es posible desarrollar diversos sistemas que ayuden a la prevención de accidentes dentro de hogares, permitiendo a los adultos mayores y familiares actuar de manera oportuna ante estos sucesos, abriendo paso también a que se puedan ejecutar futuros trabajos relacionados al tema.

Older adults due to the degenerative process of life tend to lose their memory over the years, which can cause accidents within their homes from forgetting to perform certain actions, to which there is normally no control by their caregivers or family. Currently, it is possible to support the prevention of accidents within the homes of the elderly through technology, which allows timely alerts to prevent catastrophies. Despite attempts to help with such limitations, there are currently no systems that are specifically dedicated to elderly homes.
In this work, a prototype based on WSN and IoT was made for the early warning of catastrophic events, aimed at the homes of older adults. Consequently, developing composite investigation by five stages occurred. In the first, an analysis was carried out, in which the software and hardware components were selected, based on the technical specifications and / or existing bibliography. The second part, was the design of the prototype based on IoT and WSN for event detection. Thirdly, the application was developed, which allows the visualization of the data generated through a network of wireless sensors. The fourth part consists of the incorporation of a mechanism for issuing alerts, and finally in the fifth stage, the final prototype was evaluated to determine its behavior and acceptance by users.
The results obtained from the research were positive, especially in the study with users. This study shows the acceptance of the system by older adults and future possible users. In their entirety they were interested in the proposed prototype and inferred that it would be of great help in daily life. It can be concluded that, through IoT and WSN, it is possible to develop various systems that help prevent accidents within homes, allowing older adults and family members to act in a timely manner in the face of these events, also opening the way for future work related to the subject.
