| dc.description | This research project aims to characterize the agroforestry systems of traditional farms in the parish of Velasco Ibarra, belonging to the cantón El Empalme, province of Guayas. Four agroforestry systems were found in the six farms evaluated in which a survey was conducted to determine the biophysical characteristics of the farms in which on average the largest area of the farms is destined for value trees associated with grassland. Qualitative and quantitative data such as common name, diameter and height were also recorded for the determination of vertical structure, horizontal structure and species diversity. For the analysis of floristic diversity, the parameters of abundance, frequency, dominance and the value index of ecological importance were used. Shannon and Simpson’s indices were also evaluated. A total of 397 individuals were inventoried distributed in 51 species, Cordia alliodora (Ruiz & Pav.) Oken the most abundant, of which were grouped into 28 families in which rutaceae was the most abundant. Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr was the species with the highest percentage of Value and Importance Ecology Index. with 92.26%; the Shannon index was relatively low for all agroforestry systems, but among these the highest value was for Home Gardens (SAF 3), while the Simpson index performed to agroforestry systems showed the highest number of diversity Value trees associated with grassland (SAF 4). | dc.description.abstract | Este proyecto de investigación posee como objetivo caracterizar los sistemas agroforestales de fincas tradicionales de la parroquia Velasco Ibarra, perteneciente al cantón El Empalme, provincia del Guayas. Se encontraron cuatro sistemas agroforestales en las seis fincas evaluadas en las que se realizó una encuesta a cada propietario para diagnosticar las fincas, en las que en promedio la mayor superficie de las fincas está destinada para árboles de valor asociados a pastizales. También se registraron datos cualitativos y cuantitativos como nombre común, diámetro y altura para la determinación de la estructura vertical, estructura horizontal y diversidad de las especies. Para el análisis de la diversidad florística se utilizaron los parámetros de abundancia, frecuencia, dominancia y el índice de valor de importancia ecológica “IVI”. Igualmente se evaluaron los índices de Shannon y Simpson. Se inventariaron un total de 397 individuos distribuidos en 51 especies siendo Cordia alliodora (Ruiz & Pav.) Oken la de mayor abundancia, de las cuales estuvieron agrupadas en 28 familias en las que rutaceae fue la más abundante. La especie con mayor porcentaje de Índice de valor de importancia ecológica fue Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr. con 92,26; el índice de Shannon estuvo relativamente bajo para todos los sistemas agroforestales, pero entre éstos el valor más alto fue para los huertos familiares (SAF 3), mientras que el índice de Simpson realizado a los sistemas agroforestales mostró que el más alto número de diversidad fue para árboles de valor asociados a pastizales (SAF 4).
