Abstract
Description
Biodiversity is all the variety of life forms existing on earth, comprised of all animals, plants, fungi and microorganisms that live in different ecosystems. This research project was carried out in order to determine the floristic diversity and structure of the urban trees of the San Jacinto de Buena Fe canton where the vacant areas that are being intervened for houses that carry out edaphic growth are influenced. The research was developed in 17 sites, these sites were georeferenced with the use of GPS equipment. The collection of the dasometric variables (height and diameter) of the arboreal and shrub species was carried out. A total of 1097 individuals were recorded, distributed in 49 species, 48 genera and 29 botanical families, the Arecaceae being the most representative because it was the most dominant with 134 individuals represented by two species obtaining 119.09% and one relative abundance of 12.21% and the family with the highest index of importance value was the Bignonaceae with 66.76%; 49 species of which the most dominant is Handroanthus billbergii (Bureau & K. Schum.) S. O. Grose with a relative abundance of 29.69% presenting 325 individuals. The species with the highest Importance Value Index was the Roystonea regia species with 40.71%, followed by the Tectona grandis L. f. with 37.29%. The Shannon index shows a high species diversity of 2,856 at Site 17, the species Handroanthus billbergii (bureau & K. Schum.) S.O. Grose and Roystonea regia (Kunth) from Cook presented the highest percentage of similarity from Site 3 to 15. A high Simpson diversity index was recorded at Site 17 with 0.9239, the urban green index is very low giving a percentage of 0.73% m2 / hab.
