Abstract
Description
At Hacienda "Santa Monica", Property of Mr. George Gavica located at Km 161/2 of the San Carlos Campus via the left margin Oro Verde, whose location is 1 ° 3 '18'' south latitude and 79 ° 25 '24'' W, at a height of 78 meters. The topography is flat, with a duration of 120 days, was put into effect the research entitled "FITNESS OF TWO VARIETIES OF PUMPKIN (Cucurbita moschata and maxima Duch.) IN THE AREA OF SAN CARLOS" between March and June. For this purpose raised the following objectives: To evaluate the adaptability of two varieties of pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata and maxima Duch.) In the San Carlos; determine the agronomic performance of varieties of pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata and maxima Duch.) Analyze the cost / benefit ratio of treatments in study and establish the performance of the two varieties of squash. The treatments were T1 = Variety Creole variety Unapal Bolo T2 = Green; T3 = Variety assessed Unapal Mandarino where the growing season, length of the stem to the first fruit (cm), days to flowering, number of guides, length guide, number of fruits per plant and per plot, individual fruit weight (kg) equatorial circumference (cm), number and dry weight of seed per fruit, percentage of empty seeds, pulp thickness (cm), yield per hectare (Kg). We used a randomized block design (RCBD) with three treatments and six replicates to determine differences between treatment means test was used Tukey's multiple range at 0.95% chance. The percentage of germination are not significant differences between the variables assessed, however we noticed that treatment T3 (Variety Unapal Mandarino) and T2 (Green Variety Unapal Bolo) were numerically higher with 97.22%. In the variable crop cycle is the time from planting to harvest the fruits of the Criolla variety had the longest growing season (134 days), Bolo Unapal Verde (119 days) and Unapal Mandarin (100 days), respectively. We determined the variable days to flowering taking into account the time elapsed from sowing until 50% of plants have flowers delivered where T3 treatment (Variety Unapal Mandarin) was issued both male and female flowers in less time, 39 and 44 days respectively. In the variable length stem the first fruit was the best treatment T3 (Variety Unapal Mandarin) to 98.03 cm. In the variable length of guide show highly significant differences being the treatment T2 (Variety Unapal Bolo Green) who obtained the highest number of guides with guide 5.46, the same way in the long guide the treatment T1 (landrace) had the highest long guide, 8.91 m. In assessing the number of fruits per plant are noted highly significant differences between treatment means being T2 (Green Bolo Unapal Variety) that gave the highest number of fruits per plant, 5.50. In the variable yield per hectare was found to be statistically significant differences in T1 (Variety Creole), which obtained higher yields per acre with a weight of 162 kg 798.87. In the economic study showed a better utility for T2 (Green Bolo Unapal Variety), with $ 221.66. Likewise, the benefit is repeated in the order T2 (Variety Unapal Bolo Green), is superior to 1.17. The results obtained allow us to accept the hypothesis "At least one of the two varieties gives us a greater production of squash," "The seeding rate of 2.0 m between rows and 1.5 m between plants will provide a greater production of pumpkin variety Unapal Bolo Green "and "The seeding rate of 2.0 m between rows and 1.5 m between plants will provide the best cost / benefit ratio."
