Abstract
Description
The choice of plant spacing according to each crop is of vital importance for the establishment, development and production of the same, since often using a wrong distance can negatively influence the crop. For this reason the present investigation was carried out in order to determine the effect of plant spacing on the sunflower crop planted under rainfed conditions in the Pangua area. The research was carried out on land of the “Ernestina” estate, located at Km 25 of the Quevedo - Moraspungo road, between coordinates 1 ° 04 '35.4 "south latitude and 79 ° 18' 26.3" west longitude, at an altitude of 147 meters above sea level. We used a Complete Blocks Random Design (BCA) with five treatments in three replicates. The treatments were constituted by the distances: 0.25 x 0.6 m, 0.3 x 0.6 m, 0.35 x 0.6 m, 0.4 x 0.6 m and 0.3 x 0.8 m. The Alto Olico Olisun 3 hybrid, distributed by Advanta, was used as genetic material. The percentage of germination, percentage of plants with rootstock, plant height at 85 days (cm), diameter of the crop at harvest (cm), yield per chapter (g), yield per hectare ), And also the economic analysis of the studied distances was carried out. Seed spacing did not significantly influence seed germination, with a germination percentage varying between 92.0 and 94.0%, with the distance of 0.3x0.6 m being the highest percentage of germination. When a smaller distance between plants was used, that is to say 0.25x0.6 m, a lower percentage of plants with rootstocks was observed with 2.8%. The plants presented a greater growth when using the distancing of 0.4x0.6m with 130.5 cm, observing that the smaller the distancing of planting smaller is the growth of the plants. The greater the distancing between plants, the greater the development of the chapters and the seeds, so that with the spacing of 0.3x0.8m produced chapters of 12.9 cm in diameter, registering a weight of 100 seeds of 6.0 g . The yield of the chapter was higher when the spacing of sowing was greater, such that the 0.3x0.8m yielded a yield of 144.1 g per chapter, followed by that of 0.4x0.6m with 137.2 m. The highest yield per hectare was obtained when sowing at 0.3x0.6 m with a total of 5213.6 kg, which shows that, at lower distances, higher yields, but the aforementioned distancing is the one that best adapts the crop.
