Abstract
Description
This research was carried out in the experimental farm "La María" in the Porcine Educational Program, belonging to Quevedo State Technical University (UTEQ), located at km 7 of the Quevedo - El Empalme road. Three levels of palm kernel cake were evaluated in the fattening of black Creole pigs, with the following treatments: (T1) 0% palm kernel cake; (T2) to 5% palm kernel cake; (T3) to 10% of palm kernel cake. A complete randomized block design (DBCA) was used with 4 replicates for each treatment (3 treatments). The variables evaluated were: Average daily weight gain, gr, Daily feed intake, gr, Feed conversion efficiency, Channel weight, kg. Percentage yield to the channel, Dorsal fat thickness (mm). Thirty - six Criollo pigs were used in the fattening stage, with an initial weight of 22.8 kg. In the variable average daily weight gain if significant differences were found between the treatments according to the Tukey test (p <0.05), the treatment with the highest average daily weight gain was the (T2) with 470 gr, while the lowest Average daily weight gain was obtained (T1) with 440 gr. There were no significant differences between the treatments according to the Tukey test (p> 0.05), the treatment with the highest consumption was (T1 and T3) with 1710 gr and the lowest consumption was (T2) with 1700 gr. In the variable food conversion efficiency if significant differences were found between treatments according to Tukey's test (p <0.05), the treatment with the highest conversion was (T1) with 3.91 and the lowest conversion was T2) With 3.60. In the variable weight to the channel, if significant differences were found between treatments according to the Tukey test (p <0.05), the treatment with the highest weight in the canal was the (T2) with 36.88 kg and the lowest weight at The channel was the (T1) with 35.55 kg. In the variable percentage yield to the channel if significant differences were found according to the Tukey test (p <0.05), the treatment with the highest yield was the (T1) with 72.70 and the one with the lowest yield was the (T3) With 70.83. In the variable dorsal fat thickness if significant differences were found according to the Tukey's test (p <0.05), the treatment with the highest fat thickness was the (T3) with 2.51 mm and the lowest fat thickness was The (T1) with 2.42 mm.
